In the past couple of years, the global environment has witnessed a surge in technological advancement. Though Africa share in this trend, it is still lagging behind generally and if these changes are not managed efficiently, it will only widen the income inequality gap, plaguing a large part of its population in poverty. Thus the need for systemic changes advocating and promoting STEM education through out Africa and Cameroon especially in rural communities.
This cannot be left for governments alone, the civic space together with the government can bring about this change. Consider the importance and resource intensive nature of this fight, no one CSO can succeed on its own. It is on this guise that Her Innovation Cameroon (HIC) and Bright Light Project signed an MOU in December 2025 in order to promote sustainable development in Cameroon.
In the wake of this partnership, these two organizations represented by Ms. Nsoh Kelly and Ms. Ngha Lilianne Franka carried out a STEM advocacy program at ST. Rita Secondary School Sand-pit, Buea, Cameroon. The aim was to orientate these students on the importance of STEM education and how pivotal it is for future sustenance.
These student and the staff of the school were impressed by the non conventional methods these facilitators encouraged them in studying. Youth are ready to contribute to change, we just need to understand their language. hashtag#HIC hashtag#STEMEducation hashtag#SDG hashtag#SustainableDevelopment
