A REPORT ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF TEXTBOOKS AT THE GRATITUDE ISLAMIC SECONDARY SCHOOL (G.I.S.S) BUEA ON THE 16TH OF OCTOBER, 2024

Quality Education is a fundamental right to all without any exceptions to gender, race, or religion. It is a global need and one of the most precious gifts any parent, community or entity can offer to its child or citizen. Contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals for Quality Education and Gender Equality, Her Innovation Cameroon in partnership with Books for Africa represented by Cliford Chia and Maliva Gina on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 conducted an impactful textbooks distribution exercise at the Gratitude Islamic Secondary School (G.I.S.S) Buea. This exercise was aimed at equipping the school library with essential academic resources (textbooks) for their academic success. Included were textbooks in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, English, French, Arts and Music. Arriving at exactly 1:50PM, the team was welcomed by the School administration with enthusiasm and ushered to the students where the books were presented to them with a brief educational talk on the significance of education and using the Library for research. The team was then ushered to the School Library where the textbooks were displayed on the bookshelves.

BRIEF HISTORY OF GRATITUDE ISLAMIC SECONDARY SCHOOL (GISS) BUEA

The BISS went operation in June, 2022 recording a number of 33 students with non-Muslim being 15 students and 18 for non-Muslim students. The school increased in number up to 97 in 2023 and over 140 students in 2024 recording an outstanding number of non-Muslim students. GISS is predominantly of the secondary section with vision of expanding the higher section in 2025.

The event was a success as the expression of gratitude filled the heart and faces of the students and Staff highlighting the significant role of accessing learning materials in fostering a supportive and enriching educational environment without any disparity of race or religion. The School administration expressed joy for the organisation not only enriching the library but also recognising the school be it an Islamic School by religion.
